Metrics Master Income Trust (ASX: MXT): disciplined income through diversified corporate lending

Metrics Credit Partners CEO and Managing Partner Andrew Lockhart recently spoke with ShareCafe about how the Metrics Master Income Trust (ASX: MXT) aims to deliver consistent monthly income through diversification, floating‑rate loans and disciplined risk management.

Launched in October 2017, MXT was designed to give investors access to a broad portfolio of Australian corporate borrowers – assets typically held on bank balance sheets.

Since then, the portfolio has expanded from roughly 55 loan positions to nearly 350 across corporate lending, real estate, infrastructure and acquisition finance.

“As you build a well‑diversified portfolio, you’re actually lowering investor risk, because the greatest risk investors face is the default of any one borrower.

—Andrew Lockhart, CEO and Managing Partner, Metrics Credit Partners

MXT targets the RBA cash rate plus 3.25% per annum net of fees.

Lockhart also points to the Trust’s floating‑rate structure, senior secured positioning and ASX‑listed liquidity as key features that make MXT a defensive income alternative to traditional fixed income and hybrids.
